Are you looking to give your next PowerPoint presentation some punch? Want to improve your message and have a more successful sales meeting? Then follow these simple, effective tips to make your message stand out:
- Include no more than 5 bullets per slide
Overloading or reading the slide is a big no-no. Make certain that you have large enough fonts that the audience can see the slide from the last row of the meeting. Powerpoint presentation equipment is meant to aid the presenter, not replace them. As event organizers, it is our job to suggest edits or changes before the presentation is given to the attendee. - Include only 4 or 5 words per bullet point
Clients want you to paint a picture and tell a story as to why they should do business with you. All slides need to be tailored to the audience members, while keeping your bullets simple in messaging.Ask yourself this question: Is the slide conveying the value of my product or service? If not, get rid of the slide or rework it until it does.
- Consider your pacing and bullet delivery
Don’t spend too much or too little time on a slide. The rule of thumb is between 20 seconds and 2 minutes. Attendees hate it when a speaker dismisses one or more slides because they are running out of time OR they spend 4 or 5 minutes on each slide. Rehearse your timing. Consider presenting 1 bullet at a time on each slide, so the attendees can’t read ahead. Make certain you don’t have too many slides. The general rule is no more than 20 slides in the deck. - Swap visuals and/or video for bullet points
It is true what they say, "A picture is worth a 1000 words." Photos, art, and video integration can liven up a rather boring presentation. Make certain to have the right sound system in place so every attendee can hear the video. In addition, make sure you have the right screen rentals so your audience has a great viewing of the presentation, video, and visuals.
