SmartSource® Computer & Audio Visual Rentals (“SmartSource,” Hauppauge, NY, www.smartsourcerentals.com), one of the nation’s leading providers of computer, audio visual (AV) and technology solutions for businesses and events,
recently served as a sponsor for a vital training program for 20 young women, ages 14-22, from underserved communities. The program is being offered by GlobalGirl Media (http://globalgirlmedia.org), in partnership with Women’s Voices Now (http://www.womensvoicesnow.org), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower young women from underserved communities through digital journalism and media training to bring their powerful perspectives to the global media stage. SmartSource provided four Apple MacBook Pro laptops that the participants used during their month-long summer training program.
SmartSource’s participation in this important initiative came at the suggestion of Account Manager Elizabeth Mora who had served on one of SmartSource’s accounts, AFI FEST, a program of the American Film Festival, and was approached by her client contact who subsequently joined GlobalGirl Media.
SmartSource Director of Marketing Lauri Christiansen, MBA, PMP noted, “The GlobalGirl Media mission is one our organization supports wholeheartedly. Giving young girls the opportunity to develop skills in the world of journalism and gain an outlet for their voices to be heard is a worthy objective, particularly in our current times. We are very proud to be a supporter of a program that helps pave the way for internships and potential employment for girls for whom these opportunities may not otherwise exist.”
